Infuse fresh springtime energy into your space with our easy ways to brighten up your home.

As we welcome in a new season, longer days and more glimpses of the sun, some of us may feel the urge to revitalise our surroundings, giving it a boost of vitamin D!

Spring loves to inspire us with its fresh and bright tones. We may feel like our homes are lacking in mood-boosting hues, so with Spring only just starting, let’s get our homes ready for the warmer and brighter days ahead.

Here’s our list of ways you can breathe new life into your space.

It’s time for a new palette

Each season introduces us to new tones. With natures ever changing state, why not have our homes reflect the changing tides of the seasons?

Whilst I agree, changing your house palette every three months is a difficult and expensive task, there are ways around it. You could dedicate a room for each season or merge the seasons together by mixing forest greens with bold yellows.

Spring offers us a vast colour palette to pick and choose from. Go softer with pastels or bold with tones such as fuchsia pink. Be inspired by the flowers, the trees and skies.

You don’t have to go all out with the colour if it’s too much for you. Simply paint a focal wall to make a bold statement.

Or if you want to take it a step further, choose a bold wallpaper. Floral wallpaper is perfect for creating a calming and feminine bedroom whilst woodland inspired design is great for kitchens.

Bring the outdoors in

Floral? For Spring? Ground-breaking. Whilst it’s the most obvious of ways to bring the season into your home, why wouldn’t you want to bring Nature’s beautiful flowers and plants into your space?

Alternate between flowers and tones to relish in Spring’s true beauty. A lovely touch, have a bouquet of flowers in your kitchen or dining table to create impact.

If you’re not a fan of flowers, a great option is to buy a citrus plant. Available in various sizes to suit all homes, the citrus plant is a more long-lasting option and something unique. Merging the fresh green tones with pops of orange, yellow etc, it’s a lovely plant to have in your home, garden or balcony. Plus, you get fresh fruit to use in your meals. It can be the start of your own little produce farm.

It’s time for a spring clean

Whilst it’s a tedious job, cleaning your space can make a world of difference. Not only in the way our space looks and feels, but it immediately makes ourselves feel better.

Fresh bedsheets, plumped cushions and the final touch of a lit candle can make us feel like we’re reborn into a cleaner mind and habit.

Use eco-friendly and natural products for the job, with the use of lemon, lavender and jasmine scents in products. Your home will smell like a flower shop (in a good way).

One cleaning job that can make a massive difference is your windows. Making sure they’re clean from rain droplets, leaves etc, allows sunlight the best opportunity to soak into your home.

Kitchenware

Out with the old and in with the new. One way to spruce up your space and have a sense of spring in your house all year round is through your kitchenware.

Choose vibrant tones or patterns to feature on your kitchenware. Replicate the bold flowers or go for something more subtle with pastels. From plates, bowls, glasses and appliances you can choose how extreme you would like to go.

Appliances are also a great avenue to go down as many come in 1950s inspired tones and even luxurious patterns.

Use light to your advantage

In any home, mirrors are a great decorative yet functional feature. They don’t take up much space and can make a room feel bigger than it actually is.

One way you can cleverly use mirrors is by reflecting light into your home. Place a mirror near windows and glass doors so the sun and blue skies can reflect off them, instantaneously brightening up your space.

Another fun way is by using window stickers. Whether they cover your whole window for an additional privacy element or as hints of decoration, some will reflect rainbow tones around your home. You’ll be glad you bought one as you see the effects of the sun rise and set. It’s also great at mood boosting.
